Hello,

What sould I need to program a database using Visual C++ 6.0 and Pervasive.

I see different tools and I am not sure which one is the right one.
I am a developer and need a solid database tool.

Best regards,

A. Ben Miloud

Hi Ben,

If you already have access to a v8 or v9 engine of some sort at your client or employer's site, all you will really need is the SDK.  The SDK contains the interface you need and the specific documentation for using it.  You will use the Btrieve API (which really just consists of a couple of overloaded functions, used for Open, Key setting, Read, Write, Close and many other ops) for Visual C++.  The SDK is a free download, and you'll find it on the Pervasive web site at http://www.pervasive.com/developerzone/sdk/wge.asp

You'll only need to download an engine if you want to do testing on your local machine.  And make sure you download the proper SDK for either v8 or v9, although once you know what you're doing, you can prototype the functions yourself.
